![]() ![]() Genesis Wave: Green can mana ramp faster than any other color, and this is one of the best uses for endgame mana in the format.Gaea’s Cradle: If you’re playing Green, you probably have a lot of creatures, and if you have a lot of creatures, Gaea’s Cradle is insane.Force of Vigor: Compares really favorably to Return to Dust, allowing you to hold up an answer to problematic artifacts and enchantments for no mana.Crop Rotation: It grabs your best land at instant speed, and Green decks have better lands than most decks.Chord of Calling finds your best creature and effectively grants it flash, to boot. Chord of Calling/ Green Sun’s Zenith/ Finale of Devastation: The reason tutors are so great in Commander is because they get around the singleton restriction on the format, making it so that you’re effectively running extra copies of the best cards in your deck. However, if you’re running recursion creatures (Genesis, Deadwood Treefolk) as part of your Birthing Pod chain, then it’s a source of awesome card advantage and tutoring power. Birthing Pod: Without building around it, it’s a way to cycle through the powerful ETB triggers in your deck.Beast Within: 3/3 vanilla creatures are pretty worthless in Commander, so it’s basically an instant speed Vindicate. She’s not exactly budget-friendly, but if you’ve got the right manabase, she’ll d excellent work. Titania, Protector of Argoth: In any deck with a decent package of fetchlands, you can count on this to provide 15+ power and a free land drop for a mere 5 mana. The fact that it has a useful creature type is a sweet bonus. Reclamation Sage: The cheapest Naturalize-on-legs in Green. It’s more fragile than Crucible, but it can be tutored out and recurred more easily. Ramunap Excavator: Great with cycling lands, Strip Mine variants, and fetches.Decks without access to Viscera Seer or Sidisi’s Faithful have to try a little harder Green/White needs a sac outlet on the board to get the win. Protean Hulk: Any Green/Black or Bant deck can win the game with one Protean Hulk trigger.Oracle of Mul Daya: Acceleration, card advantage, information, tribal synergies.Be aware that their ugly cousins, Boreal Druid and Arbor Elf, also exist. Llanowar Elves/ Elvish Mystic/ Fyndhorn Elves/ Birds of Paradise: They beat all but the best accelerants for efficiency and they have amazing synergy with all the Green cards that care about creatures. He’s more fragile, true, but that’s not enough to discount the raw acceleration that he brings to the table. Joraga Treespeaker: It’s kind of like a second copy of Sol Ring.In a deck with no basics, it’s the best combo card in Commander. In a deck with few basics, it’s a powerful graveyard enabler. Hermit Druid: In a deck with a lot of basics, it’s a cheap source of card advantage and guaranteed land drops. His body is pretty easy to recur and reuse, too. Fierce Empath: Green’s got some real heavy hitters at CMC 6+ so the ability is always going to help you find an answer or a threat to suit your needs.Fauna Shaman: A well-designed toolbox of creatures will guarantee that you’ll always have an answer to whatever problems your opponents are causing for you.Eternal Witness: Versatile recursion attached to a cheap creature. No matter what sort of idiot creatures you have on the board, you can just fire off one of Green’s ten creature tutors and “oops, I win” your opponents from 40. Craterhoof Behemoth: This is the reason that Green decks don’t have to run win conditions. ![]() As a result, this is almost going to burn your opponents way harder than it burns you. Likewise, there are some good green enchantments, but for the most part, the color gets ahead by investing in lands and creatures. Bane of Progress: Green is much less reliant on artifacts than other colors, since it has better ways of ramping itself and generating card advantage. With Avenger and any of green’s copious ramp spells, you already have all you’ll need in order to win. Avenger of Zendikar: Creates an army all on his own. ![]() He now has over 100 commander decks that I will be putting on the site. Here’s another of Phil’s decks…or at least this is the list when we made it. Yisan, The Wanderer Bard Mono Green Commander: ![]()
